PULWAMA — The District Administration, Pulwama on Monday achieved a big milestone by getting the last unconnected habitation of village Takya connected with the Pulwama town via Tenghar through Takya-Tenghar Bridge under PMGSY-I in a record time.
The Takya-Tenghar Bridge was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer in presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Executive Engineer, PMGSY (JKRRDA) Division, Pulwama.
An official spokesperson said that earlier the DDC in a review held in the month of September 2020, had set a timeline to connect the habitation of 250 souls by the end of January, 2021 which was accomplished in the record time by PMGSY Department while ensuring work in double shifts amid harsh weather conditions.
It was given out that an amount of Rs.167.57 lacs was sanctioned for the completion of the project including construction of road from Tenghar to Takya (1.5 kilometers) with major component of the scheme being construction of 1×15 mtr Span Minor – Bridge over ‘Nallah Sasar’.
The road has been now placed under the target of macadamization (black-topping) by ending July–2021.
The inauguration of Span Minor Bridge over Nallah Sasar was hailed by the people as it has been a much awaited respite for the people residing in the area.
Meanwhile, PMGSY officials informed the DDC about the upcoming massive Up-gradation and New–Connectivity programmes being undertaken under PMGSY – III and IV in the district.
It may be recalled that the habitations, which remained left out of the Core Network for various reasons, are now in focus and targeted to be taken up under upcoming PMGSY – III & IV. This will especially help many villages in far off places in Aripal of district Pulwama to get last mile connectivity.
