Elderly man killed in Pak firing at Tanghdar sector

TANGDHAR — An elderly man was killed while several others sustained injuries after Pakistan allegedly resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar sector in Kupwara district on Monday evening, officials said.

An official said that this evening at around 6 PM, Pakistani rangers restored to unprovoked ceasefire violation along the Line of Control at Tadd sector Tangdhar, targeting the forward posts of Army’s 2 Jatt and 17 Bihar.

Divulging the details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara Shriram Ambarkar said that a person was killed in the ceasefire violation while several others have sustained injuries.

SSP identified the slain elderly man as Mohammad Saleem, son of Ilim Deen.

Ambarkar added that many residential houses have also got damaged. He further said that a massive rescue operation has been launched for civilians.

The exchange of fire is going on, forces are giving a befitting reply, SSP said.
