Employee accuses his officer of ‘harassment’ in Pulwama


PULWAMA — A government employee accused his boss of unnecessary harassment, saying his officer intends to grab the money which he had lent to him.

In-Charge Stock Assistant at Sheep Extension Centre, Mughalpora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Muhammad Maqbool Shah emerged in Press Enclave on Sunday.

This time the matter is about four female hoggets. Hoggets are immature male and female sheep older than weaners but not yet adults.

“I am in possession of four female hoggets vide tag number 2366, 2392, 2381 and 2379. Despite this, District Officer Pulwama is resorting to fake propaganda that I have sold them in market. I had written to Block Officer Abdul Majid about these hoggets who directed me to keep those in custody till they are handed over to a new beneficiary,” the employee said.

He said that earlier he was forcibly made to pay Rs 58,000 for two Rams. Rams are adult male sheep kept for breeding and for wool production. Now, the District Officer Pulwama is trying to make me pay Rs 32,000. When hoggets are in my possession why the officer misleads the Department about me,” Muhammad Maqbool Shah said.

Shah said that the officer is misusing his power to grab his hard earned money. “This District Officer has borrowed Rs 3.72 lakh from me when he was constructing his house at KP Road Anantnag. He is reluctant to pay back the money and using different tactics to harass me,” he said.

“Despite knowing that female hoggets are safe and in my possession, the District Officer issued a circular about the recovery of these hoggets. This circular was just to malign my image. It is a sheer harassment,” he said and sought the intervention of higher ups particularly Director of the Department.

Block Officer Pulwama, Ghulam Nabi said that hoggets are lying with the said employee and rest he doesn’t know anything.

District Officer Sheep Husbandry Pulwama, Dr Muhammad Shafi Mir while refuting the allegations said that this employee is allegedly involved in many ‘misdeeds’ and investigation against him is underway. He said the said employee has already been attached by the Director.
