Engineering Associations protest in Srinagar

SRINAGAR — J&K State Joint Committee of Engineering Graduates Association on Tuesday held a massive protest rally in Srinagar to press the fulfillment of their various demands.

The rally was held in Bemina Srinagar which was attended by engineers from all the three wings Civil, Electrical and Mechanical.

Addressing the rally, the representatives of engineers said that all the successive regimes have failed to fulfill the promises made to them so far.

Putting forth their various demands to the Governor for redressal, they said that they have pinned all their hopes in the Governor Administration and have a strong hope that they will get justice.

Speakers at the rally said that they have already put their demands before the government, out of which four need to be redressed immediately viz implementation of SRO 42, ban on adhoc appointments, regularization and promotion of adhoc engineers, addressing the pay anomalies and expansion / revival of engineering cadre.

Stressing the need of blanket ban on adhocism, they said that adhoc culture has totally destroyed the work culture and destroyed the lives of many. “It needs to be done away with immediately and instead regularize and promote adhoc appointees”, they said.

Those who addressed the rally include Farooq Ahmad Ganaie (President J&K CEGA), Firdous Ahmed Bhat (President J&K MEGA) and Peerzada Hidayatullah (General Secretary EEGA).
