ANANTNAG — A hamlet in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district has been brought multiple times under siege from the past one week. The hamlet is Durnu that falls in Dooru town of the district.

Sources said that from the past one week, this village has been brought under siege and massive search operations were conducted every time.

Sources added that combined forces including soldiers from 19 Rashtriya Rifles, 164 Battalion CRPF and SOG Dooru not only conducted search operations but also used JCB to excavate suspected spots.

“They have dug orchards, yards and other specific spots, but found nothing objectionable,” sources said, adding that Durnu is the native village of top Hizb Commander Zubair.

A senior police officer from Dooru, however, said that he doesn’t know anything about the Cordon and Search Operation in this village.
