Srinagar: Daring Chief Minster Omar Abdullah, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani Saturday said,” If Omar has any conscious left he should think over his position and authority.”
Geelani who according to Hurriyat spokesman was put under house arrest at his Hyderpora residence soon after he arrived here from New Delhi on Saturday said that in the aftermath of Boniyar killing, Omar had vowed to bring the perpetuators to book. “But it is unfortunate to see Police reducing the case as a mere accident.”
Geelani claimed that Police have now filed an FIR under section 304 instead of 302. In a statement to KNS, Geelani accused Chief Minster of remaining as a mute spectator to the developments.
“The killings of Altaf Ahmad Sood of Boniyar, Mehraj ud din Hajam of Hajin and Ashiq Ahmad Rather of Rafiabad stand testimony to the fact that there has been no change in the ground situation in the state,” Geelani added.
Meanwhile, according to a Hurriyat spokesperson, the ailing leader was put under house arrest immediately after he landed in Srinagar. However, Geelani managed to address a gathering of office bearers and workers who had come to welcome him at his Hyderpora residence.
In his address Geelani according to the statement castigated state government for putting him under house arrest. “Government is not ready to face me politically and has restricted my activities,” he said.
He said he intended to pay condolences to the families of youth killed in Boniyar, Hajin and Rafiabad and was planning to travel to their native villages but government seems to have other ideas.
Geelani claimed that no FIR has been lodged against the personnel involved in the killings of civilians during 2010 agitation and the culprits were roaming freely.
Huriyat Chairman made it clear that there was no way to make any compromises on his stand and nobody should even hope for the same.
He said, “No effort of putting Kashmir into backburner will be allowed to succeed.”
