Srinagar: The senior pro-freedom leader of Kashmir Syed Ali Geelani despite being at the worst end of his health was not released by the government and he continued to remain under house detention today so he has decided to shift to Delhi so that he could have a detailed health check-up there and could freely practice over the advice of the doctors.

The house arrest process of Geelani had entered in the sixth year and this illegal confinement had very severely impacted his health condition over these years and this condition is worsening day by day.

While terming the continuous detention of Geelani without any concrete reason as a clear violation of the state constitution, Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar in a statement to KNS said that this is not only an act of denying the right of freedom of expression but it is also a wicked attempt by India to kill the Kashmiri leader.

In a Friday’s press statement, Hurriyat’s spokesman said that this year Geelani had decided not to go to Delhi and preferred to stay in Valley with his people but this experiment doesn’t work for him and artificial warmness in the closed room proved harmful for his health.

Despite being under house detention, Geelani used to walk in his personal lawn in the warm season but it couldn’t become possible in the cold season so his house confinement proved detrimental to his health and he is not keeping well with his health since the last one and a half month.

The spokesman said that the prominent doctors and health experts of the Valley too had termed the continuous illegal confinement of Geelani in his house as the basic cause for his ill health. “A hope was generated that the government would revisit their policies and will release him. But when this didn’t happen to date, the party decided that Geelani will leave for Delhi so that he could conduct his detailed health check-up there and also can move freely for exercise and other purposes.”

Hurriyat’s spokesman said that Geelani will leave for Delhi on February 6 (Saturday) and will return healthy with the grace of Almighty from there in his people. Hurriyat Conference appealed to the people to pray for the early recovery of their leader.
