Government fails to pay staff engaged for JKSSB exam duty

SRINAGAR — The staff engaged for smooth conduct of Accounts Assistant Examination (Panchayat) has accused Government of not paying their remuneration.

1.90 lakh candidates had applied for these posts out of which 1.62 lakh numbers of candidates appeared for the written test in across the 750 examination centers in the UT.

In order to conduct exams in a transparent and fair manner, a multi-layered structure for supervision was established at each examination centre, in addition to the Center Superintendent. 700 Magistrates, 750 Centre Observers and 750 Centre Superintendents were deployed.

In addition more than 7918 Invigilators were also deployed for smooth conduct of the examination. To ensure transparency and fairness during the examination process, Videographers were also deputed at each examination centre, officials said.

However, the Invigilators, Videographers accused Government of not paying them despite many representations to the concerned quarters.

The Superintendents were supposed to receive Rs. 1600, Dy-Superintendents Rs. 480, Invigilators Rs. 420, Clerk Rs. 360, and Class 4th employees Rs. 180, and media personnel Rs. 1000.

A Superintendent who was posted in an examination center in Kupwara said that neither DC Office or SSB owns their payment.

Chairman JKSSB, Khalid Jehangir refuted the allegations, “We have already communicated it to DCs. DCs pay for it. If their is still anyone who has not received the payment, he should contact any of our offices.”
