Govt forces’ vehicle crushes woman to death in North Kashmir

Srinagar: A woman was crushed to death by a government force vehicle in north Kashmir’s Tanmarg region, about 39 kilometers from summer capital Srinagar, last evening, sending the entire region into mourning on the occasion of Eid.
Nocturnal protests rocked Takiya-Gonipora near Kunzar as Gulshana, 35, wife of Mohammad Shafi Shah was crushed by a security vehicle near Kunzar bridge on Srinagar-Gulmarg highway last evening.
Eyewitnesses said that a security vehicle crushed the lady injuring her critically when she was returning from her farm with a bundle of grass on her head.
An eyewitness lady wishing not to be named told that after the accident the security vehicle fled.
Critically wounded Gulshana was rushed to SKIMS where she succumbed later.
When her body was brought to her home, angry people started nocturnal protests raising slogans on the loud speakers ofthe local Mosque.
Ahad Shah, the father in law of the deceased told that on approaching the Kunzar Police Station, which is only a few yards ahead of the accident spot, the police were unaware about any vehicle involved in the accident. “Then I approached Kunzar Army Camp and enquired if their vehicle was involved in the accident, their officer enquired from all sources but later told me that any of their vehicle was not involved.”
“Frustrated, I again went to Kunzar Police Station and I was dumbfounded on seeing a vehicle there, its tyres were having grass stuck with blood. I at once raised cry and asked the IRP Police present in the premises about it, they could not reply my quires,” Shah said.
However sources told the on spot interruption of SHO Kunzar, Sajad Ahmad the vehicle was seized and two IRP personnel arrested.
The news of this accident spread like wild fire and the local media reached Kunzar Police Station where they saw the seized vehicle.
These media sources quoting SHO told that the vehicle belonged to the IRP bearing registration No. JK-01, R-8985.
The sources told that in the case an FIR has been lodged in Kunzar police station vide FIR No; 96/2012 under RPC SECTIONS 279, 337. The SHO confirmed the arrest of two persons who were driving the vehicle.
The deceased lady was buried this morning at 9 am, a huge gathering of people of adjoining villages offered her Nimaze Jinazah. The deceased has left behind three minor children.
