
SRINAGAR — A gunfight broke out between government forces and militants in Sirhama area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.
An official said that a CASO was launched following inputs about the presence of militants in the area by Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the area.
As forces zeroed in on the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
Official sources said that the contact with the militants has been established and gunfight is underway. Two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
