Gunfight breaks out in Nawakadal Srinagar

SRINAGAR — After a long time, a gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Nawakadal area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Tuesday.

Reports reaching here said that a joint team of Police and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in Nawakadal.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.

A senior police officer also confirmed about the exchange of firing between the forces and militants.

As per the sources, one to two militants are believed to be trapped.
