SRINAGAR — Intense exchange of firing between militants and government forces took place in Tazipora, Mohammadpora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday.
Reports reaching here said that a joint operation was launched by 9 RR, SOG and CRPF in Tazipora Mohammadpora.
A senior police officer said that as the joint team of forces encircled the suspected spot and came closer to it, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering a fierce gunfight.
Meanwhile, mobile internet was snapped in Kulgam as a precautionary measure.
As this report was being filed, the exchange of firing was going on.
Earlier, lights were installed near the encounter site and cordon was strengthened.
