Gunmen shot dead PDP leader’s PSO in Bijbehara

SRINAGAR — Personal security officer (PSO) of PDP leader Sajad Mufti was shot dead by suspected militants after Friday prayers in Baba Mohalla, Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Reports reaching here said that suspected militants fired upon a cop namely Farooq Ahmad Mir, resident of Khiram Anantnag. He received bullet injuries in his chest after coming out of a mosque where he offered Friday prayers.

He was immediately shifted to Sub district hospital Bijbehara where doctors declared him brought dead.

Medical Superintendent SDH Bijbehara Dr. Showkat said that Farooq had bullet wound in his chest and was brought dead to the hospital.

A police officer confirmed the incident and said that one AK-47 rifle has also been snatched by the militants from the slain cop.

Soon after the incident, the whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
