Historic Shiv Temple in Gulmarg gutted by early morning fire

SRINAGAR — A fire early Wednesday morning gutted the historic Shiv Temple, also known as the Rani Temple, located atop a hillock in Gulmarg.

Officials said the blaze erupted before dawn. Police and local residents managed to extinguish the fire, but the temple could not be saved. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

The temple was a popular tourist attraction and had appeared in several Bollywood movies, including the hit song “Jai Jai Shiv Shankar” from “Aap Ki Kasam”.
