I was thrashed by cops, says KU scholar

SRINAGAR — A Kashmir University research scholar has alleged that he was thrashed by policemen after almost being run over by their vehicle.

The scholar said that a police vehicle hit him as he and his colleagues were on way to their rented accommodation near the university campus.

The scholar said that when he confronted the cops, they slapped him and asked him where he was from.

“As soon as I said Pulwama, one of the cops said that I must be a Jaish member then. And then they thrashed me inside the police vehicle,” he said.

Police officials could not be reached for comment despite repeated attempts.
