Infiltration bid foiled along LoC in Tangdhar

KUPWARA — Security forces on Thursday engaged a group of militants in a gunfight after they attempted to sneak into this side from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district, officials said.

Reliable sources quoted by a local news agency said that the infiltration attempt was foiled in Tangdhar sector when army troops guarding the LoC picked up the movement of militants and challenged them in the early hours of Thursday.

They said that two militants were likely gunned down while the operation was underway.
