SRINAGAR — In view of the fourth death anniversary of slain Hizb militant Burhan Wani, authorities suspended mobile Internet facility in parts of Kashmir as a precautionary measure.

Reports reaching here said that deployments of security forces have been made all along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway which passes through three south Kashmir districts of Kulgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama.

A police official said that to ensure peace and tranquillity in the Valley, steps were taken. He said restrictions were also imposed in parts of south Kashmir as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order and avoid any untoward incident.

Burhan Wani was killed on July 08, 2016, in Kokernag area of Anantnag district in a gunfight with security forces. His death was followed by a Kashmir-wide unrest that lasted for four months.
