SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three people accused involved in sextortion.
In a handout, the police said that Nazir Ahmad Rather son of Late Ghulam Nabi Rather, resident of Dalwan Charar-e-Shareef, Budgam lodged a written complaint in Police Station Shergarhi on September 27 to the effect that some days back, he received a call from one Saba (lady) and insisted him to meet for some work.
The statement further stated that accordingly, he met her near Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. “The said lady took him to her room at Reck Chowk Batamaloo and started levelling false allegations against him inside the room.”
“In the meantime, three other men (associates of the lady) forcibly entered the room and started making a video. Then she along with her accomplices started blackmailing him and he fell prey to a well-planned conspiracy of sextortion,” the statement added.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 76/2022 U/S 34, 384, 120-B, 506 IPC was registered in Police Station Shergarhi and an investigation was set into motion.
Three accused, namely Shaista Bashir alias Saba, daughter of Bashir Ahmad Dar and wife of Aijaz Ahmad Ganaie, resident of Galwanpora (presently at Narkara Budgam); Jahangir Ahmad Dar son of Khazer Muhammad Dar, resident of Pethpohru Handwara and Aijaz Ahmad Ganaie son of Ghulam Muhammad, resident of Galwanpora Hyderpora (presently at Narkara Budgam) have been arrested in the instant case.
“There are some other victims of this gang and more arrests are also expected in the instant case and investigation is going on,” reads the statement.
