Srinagar: To observe 16th anniversary of renowned human rights lawyer Jalil Andrabi, Kashmir Bar Association held a one day seminar on Tuesday while lawyers affiliated with the Bar abstained from the work throughout the day.
Renowned journalist of the state and Kashmir Times Chief Patron, Ved Bhasin was Chief Guest in the seminar titled: “Kashmir Freedom Struggle in the current global political scenario and prospectus of a solution.”
While paying glowing tributes to Andrabi, Bhasin said, “ Kashmir issue is a reality and division of Hurriyat Conference will have no impact on it. However, to take the movement to its logical conclusion unity among separatist groups is must.”
He said that on one hand government and its agencies claims that only 150 militants are present in the state “while on the other more than seven lakh troops have been stationed here.”
Bar President, Mian Abdul Qayoom, senior Advocate Zaffer Ahmad Shah and Bar General Secretary GN Shaheen while speaking on the occasion paid glowing tributes to Andrabi.
Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front organized Quran Khawani on Tuesday at its head office, Maqbool Manzil, here on the martyrdom anniversary of Jalil Andrabi.
