Srinagar, Apr 09: Jamaat Islami on Sunday alleged that police were harassing the locals in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
“After the mysterious killing of Sarpanch in Kulgam district Police are arresting innocent youth on flimsy grounds without any substantiated proof just to harass the local people,” a spokesman of Jamaat advocate Zahid Ali said in a statement.
He described police action as “unwarranted.” “Police are duty bound to investigate the murder of the innocent Sarpanch but that doesn’t mean that they will make the lives of people hell,” he added.
“Jamaat expresses sympathy with the bereaved family and urges top officers to look into the matter so that innocents are not harassed, and the investigations are carried out in a proper way to trace the killers,” Ali added.
