KULGAM — A Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militant has been killed while an Army soldier and two civilians were injured in an ongoing encounter in Batapora village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said on Monday, adding that the operation was underway.
An official told the news agency KNO that the encounter broke out in Batapora village this evening. He said that in the ensuing encounter, an Army soldier and two civilians were injured and they have been shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Police in a tweet informed that a JeM militant has been killed and his identification is being ascertained. “Kulgam Encounter Update: One terrorist of proscribed terror outfit JeM killed. Identification of the killed terrorist is being ascertained. Search going on. Further details shall follow,” a spokesman of Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
Earlier, police said that an Army soldier and two civilians were injured in the ongoing encounter, who have been shifted to the hospital for treatment. “Kulgam Encounter Update: One Army soldier and two civilians got injured in the ongoing encounter. All three injured shifted to the hospital for treatment. Operation going on. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone Police had tweeted.
