JK Police claims to bust human trafficking gang

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it arrested four members of a human trafficking gang and recovered one non local girl that was sold for carrying out illicit trade.
Giving details about the incident, sources in police said that on a tip off, Pattan Police last night intercepted a Ritz vehicle bearing registration number JK01R-1389 and arrested four persons identified as Mohammad Altaf Khan son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan resident of Check Razaq Khan, Mohammad Subhan Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Mirgund, Ali Mohammad Bhat son of Sanaullah Bhat resident of Gund Ibrahim Pattan and Mohammad Maqbool Dar son of Abdul Aziz Dar resident of Mirgund Pattan.
These persons were carrying a teen aged girl (name withheld) resident of Islampur, Bengal, who was brought to the valley, recently and was sold for carrying out the illegal trade, sources said.
A Case FIR No. 21/2012 under section 366-B was registered in police station, Pattan in this regard, sources added.
