Srinagar: Strongly denouncing the government for not allowing the already announced joint presser of Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik over the prevailing alarming situation in Kashmir in the face of unabated civilian deaths, the JRL said that the ruling regime once again resorted to undemocratic means of caging the resistance leadership either in their homes or in the police stations as part of its massive crackdown on the pro-freedom camp.
In a joint statement issued to KNS, the JRL while strongly condemning the police crackdown on the resistance camp, said that every space for any kind of expression or interaction for leadership and people stands completely chocked and if this policy continues, the situation will come to such a pass where it will completely get out of control.
The leadership payed rich tributes to the three militants including Fayaz Ahmed Hammal resident of Khankah-e-Moula Srinagar, who were killed in an encounter with government forces at Chattabal area of Srinagar.
JRL stated that “the priceless sacrifice of life offered by our youth for realization of people’s will and aspirations will definitely be achieved. While these armed youth are holed up in a house, the Indian forces, hundreds in number, blow up the house razing it to ground, killing them and destroying the house and those adjacent to it and causing injuries to many.”
Strongly condemning the killing of young Adil by a police vehicle which mowed him down near Noorbagh in Qamarwari, JRL said, “Unaccountability for their crimes has made the forces grid in Kashmir utterly contemptuous of the life of Kashmiris and they don’t think twice about their actions. What is worse is that after these murders, they have the absolute brazenness to lie about it as in Adil’s case saying that he died in “a traffic accident when the heart rending video clearly shows how cruelly he was killed.” To protest the killing, JRL has called for a complete shutdown on Sunday.
JRL further said, “The masculine militaristic approach adopted by the GOI and their local collaborators to deal with the people’s movement for their fundamental right to self determination has unleashed havoc on people and pushed many among our budding youth to take to arms as a means of resistance but has not in any way weakened the determination of the people.”
“In fact, the more the suppression, the stronger the resilience to overcome it,” JRL said. They said the policy makers in India should realize this and shift their approach and give peace a real chance by acknowledging the facts and taking steps to resolve the conflict.
Meanwhile, the leadership has strongly condemned the killing of three persons in north Kashmir’s Sopore and Hajin areas at the hands of unknown gunmen and termed it unjustified. (KNS)
