SRINAGAR — The Economic Society of the Post Graduate Department of Economics at the University of Kashmir has issued an urgent appeal to support the flood-hit residents of the region.

According to an official notice dated October 24, 2014, the department is organising a multi-day donation drive to gather essential winter supplies and financial aid for those affected by the devastating floods.

The initiative is being spearheaded by Elizabeth Mariam, Organiser of Extension Activities, and Dr Effat Yasmin, Head of the Department. Together, they are urging students, faculty, and the broader community to “join hands” in this humanitarian effort as winter approaches.

As per the details provided, the donation drive will be conducted from October 27 to October 31, 2014, during regular working hours at the Department of Economics, University of Kashmir (Hazratbal, Srinagar).

To help displaced and affected individuals prepare for the harsh winter months, the society is specifically requesting contributions including monetary donations, woollen items and blankets, old or new pherans (traditional Kashmiri winter cloaks) and Kangris (traditional earthen fire pots).

Individuals willing to contribute or seeking more information are encouraged to reach out to the organising committee via the contact numbers provided in the official release: 9906959046, 9797785467, 9906413468, 9906317346, or 9596461829.
