PULWAMA — Two separate incidents were reported in Pulwama district on Monday, including a fatal drowning and a train accident.
In the first incident, a non-local labourer drowned in the Jhelum River near Patalbagh, Pampore. The deceased, identified as Nami Sahani (45), son of Sarjo Sahani and a resident of Bihar, was working as a sand extractor in the area.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot, retrieved the body, and shifted it to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Pampore for medico-legal formalities. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
In another incident, a woman sustained injuries after falling from a moving train near Kakapora railway station. The victim, Fatima, wife of Bashir Ahmad from Wahibugh Pulwama, was travelling from Srinagar to Banihal when she accidentally slipped and fell. She was promptly taken to a nearby hospital, where her condition is reported to be stable.
