BUDGAM — The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested an active militant of LeT outfit and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that based on a specific input regarding the movement of militants in Poshkar area of Budgam, Police along with 62RR, 2RR and 79Bn CRPF launched a joint cordon and search operation in the area.

He said that during the search operation, the joint team arrested an active militant of LeT and identified him as Abdul Hameed Nath, resident of Pethzanigam area of Beerwah.

The official said that incriminating materials including a pistol and a magazine, five pistol rounds and a Chinese grenade were recovered from his possession. “As per police records, he was active since February 2021.”

He said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered against him and investigation has been initiated.
