Man arrested with pistol, brown sugar in Kupwara

KUPWARA — Government forces on Sunday arrested a man from Armohi area of Karnah in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and recovered a pistol and brown sugar from his house.

Officials said that a case against the accused was registered by Budgam Police sometime back. They said that an investigation into the case was underway, adding that on May 29, a special team reached Karnah to investigate the case further.

A top police official said that the special team has finally arrested the man in Karnah.

He said the special team of Budgam Police has recovered a pistol, 14 rounds and one packet brown sugar from the house of arrested man at Amrohi, which falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tadd,” he said.

The top police official also said that further investigation into the case is underway.

He said more recoveries and arrests are expected in this regard. “We are expecting more development in the case. Further details will come to the fore after thorough investigation,” he said.
