PULWAMA — A Fair Price (FP) unit holder was mercilessly beaten by police in Pulwama while he was on his way to his outlet in Zadoora area of the district.
The Fair Price dealer was thrashed, despite holding a valid pass issued by the administration, leaving him half-dead.
The dealer identified as Syed Tawseef Andrabi was badly injured in the incident and had to be rushed for medical treatment.
The locals have taken a strong note of the incident and have condemned the high handedness of the police personnel for the unruly behavior, demanding stern action against the personnel involved in the inhuman act.
They said that when the FP dealer, with a valid pass and maintaining the norms of social distancing and lockdown, is not spared from the wrath of police personnel manning the roads, how would others involved in the distribution of essentials dare to venture out to serve the people.
They have forwarded a written complaint to the authorities in CAPD Department and demanded to take the matter with police authorities to stop assault on persons involved in the distribution of essential commodities in the district.
