PULWAMA — Acting on intelligence reports of a potential militant attack, Pulwama Police arrested a youth allegedly carrying grenades during a security check at Circular Road on Sunday evening.
A joint team comprising Pulwama Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG), the Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), and the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) 182nd Battalion set up a checkpoint based on reports of an imminent threat in the town, according to a statement from Pulwama Police.
The suspect, identified as Danish Bashir of Dangerpora, Pulwama, was intercepted while riding a scooter. A search of his vehicle revealed 10 live grenades and five batteries concealed under the seat, police said.
The police filed charges under FIR No. 224/2024, citing sections 18 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosives Act.
Danish was taken into custody, and police are continuing their investigation, indicating that additional arrests may follow.
