Militant killed, Army men injured during Budgam gunfight

SRINAGAR — A militant has been killed and four Army men have got injured in an ongoing encounter at Chatergam area of Budgam district.

An official said that a militant has been killed and few Army men have received injuries, who have been evacuated to hospital for treatment.

Earlier, on specific inputs about the presence of militants, joint team of forces including 50 RR, CRPF and J&K Police launched a search operation in Sutsoo Kalan area of Chatergam in Budgam during wee hours of Friday.

On intensifying search towards a suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon forces which was retaliated and triggered the encounter.

Two to three militants are believed to be trapped in a residential house and firing is on.

Meanwhile, internet services have been slowed down in parts of Srinagar while it has been snapped in parts of Budgam in wake of the gunfight.
