SRINAGAR — An unknown number of militants managed to escape after a very brief gunfight with security forces in Radbugh area in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday.

Reliable sources, as per the news agency KDC, said that there was a brief encounter between militants and a joint team of Police and Indian Army at around 10:30 hours today. They said there was a lull following which massive searches were launched.

However, they said, there was no second contact established with militants nor was anyone arrested, suggesting that the unknown number of militants managed to flee from the spot.

Earlier, J&K Police in a tweet said, “Encounter has started at Redbugh, Magam area of Budgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
