Srinagar, Nov 27: The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani have warned that the occupation authorities are planning to introduce new legislation to provide such lethal powers to Indian armed forces operating in occupied Kashmir, which will be more dangerous than the existing draconian laws.
The leaders talking to media men in Srinagar said that the puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah had categorically stated his motive that simultaneously with the revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act he would make a move to amend the prevailing Criminal Procedure Code to provide a legal cover to the actions of Indian army personnel.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq emphasized that India would not be allowed to hoodwink the international Community. Syed Ali Geelani said that a mass level agitation would be launched in the occupied territory if the move towards the new legislation was made.
The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front in its statement maintained that the new plan of Omar Abdullah had exposed his real face. The Bar Association of the occupied territory and the human rights activist, Mohammad Ahsan Untoo also expressed similar views regarding the new plan.
A resolution passed at a seminar in Thannamandi urged India to repeal black laws, withdraw troops from the occupied territory, release illegally detained Kashmiris and stop human rights violations without any further delay. The seminar was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement to pay tributes to the Jammu Martyrs and the speakers included Ghulam Ahmed Mir and Amir Muhammad Shamsi.
On the other hand, Hurriyat leaders including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Yasmeen Raja, Javed Ahmad Mir, Zafar Akbar Butt and Qazi Yasir in their separate statements strongly condemned the arrest of youth and use of brute force against protesters and journalists by Indian police in Srinagar on Friday.
