PULWAMA — Situated 29 kilometres away from district headquarter Pulwama and nine kilometres from sub-district headquarter Tral, a village in the block lacks some of the most basic amenities.
The village of Karmulla has no basic facilities like electricity or water supply. It also lacks the connectivity as far as roads are concerned. The lack of these basic amenities in Gujjar Basti Karmulla is causing great hardships to the residents here.
According to the local people, there is no sign of construction and development in the area. “We are facing a lot of difficulties in our daily lives due to poor road connectivity, lack of electricity and drinking water. Without such things, we cannot think of any better world for our children,” a local said.
The area was given the status of a Model village four years ago, locals said, adding that no road whatsoever has been built in the area yet.
“Not only this. If anyone falls ill, they are still taken to the hospital with the help of a bed shouldered by people,” another resident sighed.
The locals appealed the district administration to carry out development work in the area so that the “Gujjar population could also count themselves among the human beings”.
