NC MLA released after verification of his gun license

SRINAGAR — Senior National Conference leader and MLA Bijbehara Bashir Ahmad Veeri has been released after being detained momentarily following the recovery of two bullets from his luggage at Srinagar Airport.

A senior unnamed police officer, quoted by the news agency GNS, said that Veeri was released after it came to the fore that these bullets were from his licensed pistol by showing a gun license

The MLA had “mistakenly” carried the bullets in his luggage, the officer said.

Earlier, Veeri was detained at the airport after two bullets were found in his luggage. He was taken to the police post in Humhama for questioning.
