Newly recruited LeT militant held in Awantipora: Police

AWANTIPORA — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a new recruit of Lashkar-e-Taiba from Konibal crossing in Awantipora area of south Kashmir.

According to police statement, Awantipora Police along with 50 RR and 185 CRPF arrested one recently joined militant identified as Faisal Ahmad Dar, resident of Khankah Bagh Pampore affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pampore area near Konibal crossing.

Police said the youth went missing from September 11 to join the militant ranks of Lashkar-e-Taiba and was active in Anantnag, Awantipora and Pampore area.

The statement further said the arrested militant has uploaded his audio on social media on September 13 wherein he claimed to have joined militant ranks and requested his parents not to search for him.

Incriminating material of proscribed outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba has been recovered from the said militant, police said.

A case FIR number 79/2020 under relevant section of law stands registered at Police Station Pampore.
