Srinagar: Pakistan High Commissioner to New Delhi Abdul Basit Thursday assured Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani that there will be no change in Kashmir policy and no wrong decisions regarding the status of Gilgit Baltistan will be taken.

“Abdul Basit told Geelani Sahab that Pakistan will make no changes in its stated policy towards Kashmir dispute with India and no such decision will be taken over the status of Gilgit-Baltistan that may impact the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir,” Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar quoted the Pakistan High Commissioner as saying in New Delhi.
Basit Tuesday visited Geelani at Malviya Nagar in New Delhi, where the ailing veteran has gone for a health check up, Akbar told KNS.
During the one and half hour meeting between the two, the Hurriyat chairman pointed out his reservation over the Indo-Pak dialogue, saying that India was not sincere in dialogue.
“India is not sincere in talks and resolution of the Kashmir dispute. Talks are a time pass for India. Had India been sincere, it would have accepted Kashmir as a dispute and would not call the disputed state as it integral part,” Akbar quoted Geelani having said to Basit.
“Geelani Sahab told Abdul Basit that holding dialogue with India take off the attention of the atrocities committing India army forces on Kashmiris. Make Kashmir dispute core agenda of any dialogue with India,” Akbar said.
“No resolution to Kashmir dispute will be acceptable to Kashmiris,” Geelani has said to Basit.
Earlier, Basit inquired about the health of Geelani and conveyed to him the “good wishes” sent by the Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief.
Hurriyat (G) Chairman Geelani went to New Delhi on Saturday for a health check-up after his deteriorating health. Hi son Syed Naseem Geelani and Principal secretary Peer Saifullah are attending to him. (KNS)
