‘OIC to appoint Special Advisor for Kashmir’

Srinagar: In an important development, Organization for Islamic Countries (OIC) has decided to appoint a special advisor for Kashmir. This was stated by the organisation’s special envoy to Kashmir Abdual Aleem during his meeting with the visiting Kashmiri separatist and Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in Jeddah. Mirwaiz along with barrister Abdual Majeed Tramboo and Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl met the envoy at OIC headquarters in Jeddah after returning from Medina Munawara. In a statement, Hurriyat spokesman said that Mirwaiz during his meeting stressed upon OIC to highlight the Kashmir issue more vigorously at international forums. “HR commission of OIC is going to release a detailed report on HR violations in Kashmir,” Aleem is believed to have told Mirwaiz. Meanwhile, Mirwaiz has urged OIC to send its representatives to Kashmir for accessing the situation on ground. Mirwaiz while appreciating the establishment of a special HR cell for Kashmir by OIC said that there was serious kind of human rights violations taking place in Jammu and Kashmir. The Hurriyat (M) Chairman also welcomed the visit of UN delegation to Kashmir.
