PULWAMA — Suspected militants fired upon a 35-year-old man outside his village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The suspected militants carried out the attack in Wasoora hamlet of the district.

Police sources said that a group of suspected militants emerged in the village and fired upon a man in his leg. He was immediately shifted to a hospital.

The victim, who according to hospital sources is stable, has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Dar son of Asadullah Dar, a resident of Wasoora village of Pulwama.

Local sources said that the victim had acted as a polling agent to People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) backed National Conference candidate, Mukhtar Ahmad Bandh in yesterday’s phase 5th of DDC elections in Litter constituency of Pulwama.

The village was cordoned off after the attack and a search operation was launched in the hamlet and its adjacent areas, however, no arrests were made.
