Pattan Gunfight: Slain militants buried in Sonamarg

BARAMULLA — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday morning buried all three Hizbul Mujahideen militants, who were killed in Yadipora area of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, in Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said.

Police officials said that the slain were identified as Hanan Bilal Sofi from Arampora Baramulla, Shafat Khan from Rawalpora Delina and third one is unidentified. After concerned families approached, all bodies were taken to Sonmarg.

The decision not to give away the bodies was taken in view of the Coronavirus pandemic. Police and some locals dug three graves in a graveyard in Sonamarg after receiving the information from Police.

Earlier, three militants were killed while an Army Major and two SOG men were injured in 12-hour-long gunfight in Yadipora village of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla.
