Police questions suspects after minor’s death in Budgam

BUDGAM — Police have detained a boy and a girl in connection with the murder of three-year-old boy in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Pertinently, in the first week of December this month, a three-year-old boy Burhan Hilal Najar was found dead in Chewdara village of Beerwah in Budgam. The kid had gone missing after he went outside to play in the neighborhood.

Family members had demanded a probe into the child’s death. Accordingly, a formal FIR vide number 272/2020 under Section 364, 302 was registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation had been set into motion.

Police sources said that a boy and a girl have been detained by police. The girl who is the cousin sister of father of deceased minor boy has virtually confessed to some extent that they are involved in the murder of the minor boy.

A police official, on the condition of anonymity, said that the boy and girl have been called for questioning and they have not been detained. He said investigation into the alleged murder is in full swing.

Those who have been called for questioning with regard to the murder of minor boy include 19-year-old Firdous Ahmad Mir of Nehalpora Pattan and Akhtar of Chewdara Beerwah.
