Srinagar: Senior Hurriyat Conference (M) leader, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Thursday stressed the need to forge a common agenda for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
“Separatist and mainstream political camps must come forward on single platform and evolve a common document for the resolution of the vexed issue,” he said, while speaking at a seminar organized by Anjuman-e-Sharie Shiayan at Hurriyat’s Rajbagh office in connection with the Unity Week coinciding with the prophet’s (pbuh) birth anniversary.
“Both India and Pakistan have made it clear they can’t afford another war on Kashmir and it can be resolved only through dialogue. So, all separatists and mainstream political parties of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as their well-wishers, need to evolve a united platform and prepare common document for its resolution,” Prof Bhat said, while speaking at a seminar here.
“Like Indian and Pakistani politicians, who shun their differences and get united for their respective national interests, political parties in Jammu and Kashmir also need to unite for the common interests of people,” Prof Bhat said.
“We are the owners and masters of this land and it is we who have to decide about its solution. Anyone else can’t decide our fate. We need to contrive means to be a part of the dialogue process between India and Pakistan,” he said.
He added that follies in the past must help chalk out new strategies for the successful resolution of Kashmir issue. “This is the time for revolutionary politics,” he said.
