Srinagar: Three militants are reported to have been killed in the gunbattle that broke out yesterday between suspected militants and government forces in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
According to reports, forces including Army, SoG and CRPF, have engaged militants in Rajpora area of the district.
The exchange of gunfire continued throughout the night and was on today when the last reports came in.
Meanwhile, reports said people clashed with the government forces near the encounter site. They raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
Police, the reports said, resorted to heavy teargas shelling to quell the protests. The protests were on when this report was filed.
