PULWAMA — Pulwama Police has dismissed rumours regarding the purported chasing of a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) worker, refuting claims that it led to the cancellation of a scheduled party meeting in Qasbayar Shadimarg area of Pulwama.

In a statement issued here, a police spokesperson addressed the circulating misinformation on social media platforms. It said a distorted narrative falsely suggests that Police in Rajpora chased a PDP worker in Qasbayar Shadimarg today, resulting in the cancellation of a planned PDP meeting in the village.

According to the police spokesman, the information being circulated is distorted and entirely untrue. Local organizers were simply advised by the Police to obtain prior permission from the District Magistrate of Pulwama for an organized public meeting at a public venue, the statement clarified.

Furthermore, the statement appealed to the public, urging them to refrain from propagating false information. “People are requested not to spread false information,” reiterated the police spokesperson.

It is pertinent to mention here that a public darbar program of PPP was scheduled to be held in Qasbayar village of Pulwama at 1:30 pm today, where Waheed Ur Rehman Para was also slated to be the chief guest.
