BUDGAM — Police Sunday booked a ration depot storekeeper for charging extra money from consumers and selling the government produce to people in black.

Official sources said that locals from Beerwah area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district registered a complaint before Tehsil Magistrate Beerwah, Pir Zahid against a Ghat Munshi alleging that the said storekeeper is selling ration in black to maximise profits and even charging extra money for ration from common people.

In the complaint, locals alleged that the storekeeper lies to people, claiming there is no ration in the depot while selling the same ration to people in black. A team lead by Tehsil Magistrate Beerwah, Pir Zahid accompanied by Station House Officer Beerwah, Athar Ahmed rushed to the spot and found the complaint correct.
