Search operations continue in Lalpora, Lolab

KUPWARA — The joint search operation launched in Lalpora Lolab in northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district continued for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.

Sources said that forces are conducting door to door searches and has deployed huge contingent of forces in the area.

According to reports, a joint team of Army’s 28RR, Special Operation Group of J&K Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Wednesday evening launched a cordon and search operation at Lalpora, Lolab following specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

An official, part of the operation, said that last evening security forces reached the spot following a tip-off about the presence of militants in the area.

“Due to bad light, searches were not conducted. However, in the wee hours of Thursday, door to door searches were conducted and all the points leading towards the suspected area were sealed by the forces,” he said.

The searches in the area were going on when the report was filed.
