Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani and All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq have said that the Kashmir dispute can be resolved by giving the Kashmiri people their inalienable right to self-determination, reports KMS.
Syed Ali Gilani in a media interview in Srinagar reacted strongly to the recent statement of New Delhi-appointed interlocutors on Kashmir that the dispute would be resolved under the Indian Constitution. The veteran leader said that the statement of the interlocutors had vindicated the stand of pro-liberation leaders that their appointment was a futile exercise aimed at hoodwinking the international community on the conflict over Kashmir.
The APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq talking to mediamen in Srinagar over phone said that any solution within the Constitution of India was not acceptable to the Kashmiri people. He said that the best possible way to address the issue was implementation of the relevant UN resolutions.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, addressing a separate gathering at Khanqah-e-Mualla in Srinagar said that the Kashmiri people would continue their liberation struggle till its logical end.
On the other hand, the occupation authorities continued to place Syed Ali Gilani under house arrest, today, even preventing him from offering Juma prayers at Tourist Reception Centre Mosque in Srinagar. Indian police arrested senior APHC leader and the President of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, along with his party activists in Pampore, when was on his way to Kulgam where he was to address a gathering.
