SRINAGAR — A 45-year-old woman Jameela Begum (Khala) wife of Muhammad Yousuf Bhat of Gulshan Ali Shalimar was allegedly stabbed to death by her neighbours during a scuffle last evening.
As per Jameela’s nephew Zulfikar, his aunt was attacked by her neighbours during a heated argument when she was out to visit another family in the locality.
“During the scuffle, the accused punched on her neck. She fell unconscious. The locals rushed her to a nearby clinic, from where she was taken to JLMN Hospital Rainawari but on the way, she succumbed,” the bereaved said.
They staged protests in the locality, demanding strict action against the accused.
When contacted, SHO Harwan Anzar Khan said both families had strained relations for the past many years. He said police has filed a case vide FIR No. 56/2014 but that the accused was at large.
