Srinagar: A complete shutdown was observed in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on the fourth consecutive day on Sunday against the ‘disappearance’ a local youth from police custody.
All the shops and business establishments remained closed while the vehicular movement was thin on roads in the main town and adjoining areas today.
Pertinently, Zubair Ahmad Turray, son of Bashir Ahmad Turray, according to police escaped from Police Station Keegam on May 1.
Zubair, a resident of Bonebazar area of Shopian was arrested many times on stone pelting charges.
He according to the reports was arrested in the first week of March this year.
Meanwhile, a police official said that the situation remained peaceful throughout the day. (KNS)
