SRINAGAR — Joint Resistance Leadership has called for a statewide shutdown on Friday against ‘bloodshed’ in Kashmir.

In a statement, JRL said that ‘there is no letup in killings and bloodshed in Kashmir even in the holy month of Ramadan as civilians, armed youth or even Indian forces are getting killed.’

“In one manner or other, Kashmiris continue to pay the price of the unresolved Kashmir issue as use of force against them continues unabated,” JRL said.

The pro-freedom leadership said that weather it is death of civilian Rayees Ahmad Dar of Pulwama, Arshad Ahmad Dar of Chanabal Pattan or Nayeem Shah of Bhaderwah allegedly killed by a VDC, Kashmiris continue to ‘fall prey to the lingering issue and subsequent use of unbridled force.’

“To protest these unfortunate killings, people will observe a peaceful hartal tomorrow, Friday the 17th of May,” they said.

They urged Imams and Khateebs to ‘raise their voice against this bloodshed’ in their Friday sermons.
