“The raids that are underway in Central and North Kashmir districts are part of an ongoing crackdown on suspected terror-related activities in the region,” they said.

This development follows the recent documented raids carried out by the SIA on May 11 targeting approximately 20 locations in South Kashmir, specifically in the districts of Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, and Anantnag.

Those earlier raids were part of a high-stakes investigation into a militancy-related conspiracy case, where alleged sleeper cells were found to be in contact with handlers in Pakistan.

The accused individuals were reportedly involved in sharing sensitive information about security forces and critical infrastructure using encrypted messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal.

“Today’s raids in Central and North Kashmir are likely a continuation or expansion of that broader investigation. More details are expected to emerge as the operation progresses,” officials added.
